According to Amiri Diwan, US President Joe Biden called Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, expressing gratitude for the two men's combined efforts at mediation that led to an agreement on a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip.

The US President expressed gratitude for the Emir of Qatar's proactive and constructive involvement in advancing security and peace in the Middle East. Additionally, the Emir of Qatar reaffirmed the ongoing efforts to safeguard civilians in the Gaza Strip, halt violence, and lessen the escalation of hostilities.

According to the White House, Sheikh Tamim and Biden underlined the significance of upholding international humanitarian law, preserving and expanding humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza, and safeguarding civilian lives.

The US President and the Emir of Qatar, according to the White House, have decided to keep closely discussing ways to construct the framework for enduring peace in the Middle East, which includes the creation of a Palestinian state.

They further emphasized "remaining in close contact to ensure the full implementation of the agreement and to secure the eventual release of all hostages."

The White House said that President Obama "expressed his appreciation for Qatar and for the personal role of the Emir and his team in reaching an agreement to release the hostages held by Hamas and establish a humanitarian truce in Gaza."

decisive actions

In a phone conversation with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, for his part, thanked the State of Qatar for what he called its "decisive efforts" to help mediate a deal that ensures the release of at least 50 people. Among those held in Gaza are Americans.

According to a statement from the US State Department, Blinken spoke with the foreign minister and prime minister of Qatar about the ongoing efforts to free those who are reportedly still hostages, the urgent need to boost humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the significance of guaranteeing foreigners' safe evacuation from Gaza.

Blinken reiterated the significance of the strategic alliance between the US and Qatar during the call, emphasizing that the US is still committed to advancing the two-state solution.

The success of the coordinated mediation efforts between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) with Egypt and the United States was announced by the State of Qatar at dawn on Wednesday. The outcome was an agreement to establish a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that will last for four days and may be extended.

A number of Palestinian women and children imprisoned in Israeli prisons will be released in exchange for the exchange of 50 civilian women and children inmates in the Gaza Strip during the first phase of the agreement. Additionally, more relief supplies, especially petroleum intended for humanitarian purposes, and humanitarian convoys will be able to enter as a result of the truce.
